Sails & Plaid

Guess what I'm posting from right now? The most wonderful amazing computer I picked out last night. I have been using two (old and even older) laptops for several years; my high school-era pc is too outdated to run anything but a web browser really, really slowly, while my college-era iBook provided me with an old edition of photo-editing software and more RAM. Oh, and Oreo completely broke off an "a" key a few years ago, so typing required the constant CTRL+V pasteage of an A I copied from a document. But no more!

Anyway, these photos are from a few weeks ago when it was still clear and sunny; it is the opposite now and uh oh, we covered up my blank outfit photo wall with a table. So I'm setting my alarm a little early just so I can (hopefully) squeeze in an outfit shot in our new garden. Also, I caved a few nights ago and got bangs again; I just couldn't stay away! These photos and old background already seem like "the past."

Oh I think this is what I was wearing the day I randomly met musician/blogger Krystal of What Is Reality Anyway? I never meet bloggers! I was super giddy and nervous but I told her I recognized her and she was supa sweet and of course, looked awesome ♥

To Dye For

I felt like a super-shopper when I spotted this pretty Banana Republic skirt at Crossroads. I was really entranced by the blood orange stripes and the interesting, almost-Ikat dye job. Plus, you know me and pockets and a $5 price tag - win win! I figured polka dots everywhere else almost makes a neutral background, right? Someone called these shoes Marie Antoinette-ish, and I can't believe I never thought of it before! It's so perfect. I think I know what I might try to do this Halloween... In other news, Eric and I finally got the keys and start moving today; not big stuff like dressers and bed, but little things.

What a Pear

I was recently the giddy recipient of a belated Christmas package (Christmas in February!). Inside was this adorable pear print blue mini; when I discovered it had pockets, my day was complete. This is what I wore yesterday, not because it was warm enough for a flirty skirt (it wasn't) but because I just couldn't wait to wear it. Not having my whole closet at my disposal while Eric and I look for a place means my mixing options are a little limited, so I figured why not just mix together the printed items I had into a scrambled Saint Valentine's Day mess. Horses, pears, flowers, stripes, and dates on a Tuesday night - hrmm, which one doesn't belong?

Do Up Your Laces

I feel like Ricky Bobby sometimes in front of the camera; what to do with my hands? I usually end up awkwardly grasping something like a piece of fabric or hair haha. Anyway...the magical dream sale corset-back pansy-print trench coat makes it's second appearance, not because I don't love it enough to wear it all the time, but because I love it so much I'm afraid to use it, like a fragile collector's item. My equivalent of a Faberge egg came from Anthropologie, the skirt I made myself, the top, bracelet and tights are from Forever 21, and lace up boots from Wet Seal.

Shaved Ice

This past weekend I woke up before noon and headed out to the flea market. Oh memories of snow cones, sunburns, and scented pencils... I haven't been in a longggg time, and I was pleasantly surprised by both the lowered entrance fee and the goodies I found: a vintage watch for my ever-expanding arm party, some cute purses for the shop, cheap floral sunnies, bananas, and the most precious little music box keychain. I wore a thrifted paisley dress that always has me feeling like a 60's housewife (older gentlemen tend to love this dress), my largest bag and simple sandals from Ross, and I threw on a dark green military jacket at the last minute for warmth.

The skies have been so grey, my dress really popped! Or maybe people stared because a) no one else wears dresses to the flea, and b) my bra came unhooked and fell down to my waist halfway through my journey around the market and I tried to casually hold it there while continuing to browse... That strangeness aside, I also got a new phone! My phone has a better camera than my actual point-and-shoot now. I get so excited and dorky about new phones and gadgets. What are your gals' favorite games and apps?? I'm obsessed with Angry Birds, Words With Friends, expense tracking and...
