Buttoned Up

There's about twelve working buttons and four tassels involved in this outfit. I thought that was worth noting. If the buttons were all on the back, I'd need someone to dress me like a Victorian woman (or man). Shoulda worn my lace-up black booties! I know the Victorian resemblance stops at the buttons, though. For today's standards, the long-sleeve feels very modest, no? As often as I feel I was born in the wrong era, I wouldn't actually trade this one for anything!

I'm not usually a "tote" type of bag toter, when I found the Stuttgart tote at a thrift store and had to get it. My mother comes from Austria and her parents reside in Germany, so while I've never actually been to the city of Stuttgart, the print still reminds of our summertime visits to the country. Even though I live in California and have easy access to some pretty great views, there's something about the greenery in Europe that I miss. And the food and ice cream!

Fact of the day: Knopf is German for button

Tights on the Beach

I'm always so much happier when my friend Angelina is in California. Especially when she totes such a mind-blowing purse and adorable western hat. We took Oreo to the closest dog friendly beach on East Cliff to enjoy the nice weather. It's not quite warm enough for me, hence the tights, but there were a few girls out sunbathing. We said hi to the other doggies; well, we humans are more friendly than Oreo is with other dogs. Even though she's a gentle, weird little thing who's never fought another creature, she can seriously send out some vibes. Some bigger dogs wouldn't come within six feet of her! Grr.

I'm pretty stoked on these tights I ordered online, even though I'd been hoping for a deeper, browner shade, especially since the hue was called "paprika." Any suggestions on finding the perfect orange-y-reddish-brown tights under $20?? Also, stay tuned for the after pics tomorrow when I makeover these shoes (I already have a leopard pair). Happy Monday!

To Dye For

I felt like a super-shopper when I spotted this pretty Banana Republic skirt at Crossroads. I was really entranced by the blood orange stripes and the interesting, almost-Ikat dye job. Plus, you know me and pockets and a $5 price tag - win win! I figured polka dots everywhere else almost makes a neutral background, right? Someone called these shoes Marie Antoinette-ish, and I can't believe I never thought of it before! It's so perfect. I think I know what I might try to do this Halloween... In other news, Eric and I finally got the keys and start moving today; not big stuff like dressers and bed, but little things.

Pumpkin Soup

This sweater is chock full of Fall spirit! I adore the slightly faded pumpkin colors. I was going to list this in the shop but I might hang on to it for a bit. I wore a self sewn polka dot t-shirt, thrifted vintage sweater, Wet Seal jeans, a beaded orange and gold necklace from Cost Plus, and old gold secondhand flats. I'm in serious need of shoes! Time for some browser shopping while I color-block my toenails :) Happy Monday everyone!
