SWF Seeking Mascara

The saying goes that the eyes are the window to the soul. If this is true, then I want the window frame to be LONG and SOFT and INKY! I'm searching for something incredibly waterproof, since I work long and often frustrating hours and don't like smudges or fading. I'd wear fakes if they, well, didn't look so fake, itch and poke and are a bitch to put on. (P.S. Don't you love/hate the "worlds longest eyelashes photo below?)

 Dearest readers, I need your beauty advice. I'm in the market for new mascara, and I just cannot afford $24 tubes of it (ahem, Chanel Inimitable, I loved you but NO) and I'm not too happy with my last purchase (L'Oreal Waterproof Voluminous) because it smudges.

So please gals, share with me your lash secrets!

  1. Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara! A little expensive ($9 for a little tube) but it works wonders! I used to use L'Oreal Voluminous and Maybelline Define-A-Lash, but I received BADgal for my birthday and fell in love with it. When applied, it's super light. At first, I was worried none was actually being applied because my eyelashes didn't feel as crusty as they usually do when I pile on the mascara. It looks very natural, but still makes my eyelashes look super long and voluminous.

  2. I stopped doing the fake eyelash thing a while ago, too much effort to end up worrying if the things are going to fall off! I've had a lot of luck with Estee Lauder mascaras. Maybe start with sample sizes before committing?

  3. I like the Bare Naturals from L'Oreal. It really gives length, without clumping and volume as well. Very natural looking which is what I love :D

    Bare Escentuals also has some that are about $15 but that's a little expensive for my taste.

  4. I bought the double back of fresh's firebird and supernova mascaras at Sephora for about ten dollars and I love them. They're small enough to go everywhere with me, and they give my lashes great length and volume without clumping. Totally recommend trying those out.

    My sister uses CoverGirl LashBlast mascara and it's also a good one, if you want to keep to the drugstore range.

  5. I will say..

    I know the funds are tight, but seriously: Latisse is amazing. If you make an initial investment, you could potentially not need any mascara in your life...

    {I've been using it for maybe a month and half, and they are reaching a point [I'm not kidding you], where at the rate they are going: I will need to trim them soon}

    OR-

    I highly suggest whatever brand makes the vibrating (weird, I know...) mascara. It's awesome and I swear by it. And I'm 96.3% sure they make it in waterproof, too.

    And it's available at your local Walgreens.

  7. I was buying MAC mascara for about $18 but I've switched to Maybelline Great Lash Mascara (which is $6/tube.) I'm enjoying it so much more. I've been asked whether I'm wearing fake eyelashes, (when I'm not.) Try it!

  8. honestly? greatest mascara ever is the classic pink/green maybelline Great Lash. For $5 a bottle you just can't go wrong.

    CG Lash-Blast is also pretty good. I've picked this up on occasion when my great lash is out of stock, but DON'T fall into the "eyelights" trap! lol. Rihanna lies!
