Spice Girls

Edited by: Jess of Fresh Jess
This week, the Spice Girls got together to announce their support for the upcoming musical Viva Forever, which is inspired by their Girl Power movement. The fearless, limitless supergroup has come so far since they burst onto the scene 16 years ago. They’ve inspired millions of girls around the world to go after their dreams, and paved the way for bloggers like you and I to share our individual styles and passions with the world. My picks this week reflect how IFBers are spicing up their life this summer. From Beetlejuice and the streets of Tokyo to the bright colors and light fabrics of the season, the variety of style expression has never looked so good. Even Victoria Beckham would be proud!

Summer starts here!

Edited by: Emily of Sugar & Spice
My first week editing Links a la Mode and so many amazing posts to choose only 20 from! Today marks the first day of summer for the northern hemisphere and judging by my choice below, I am willing summer to start in earnest in the UK! In the meantime, there’s tips on keeping stylish in the rain. One of the things I love about the fashion blogging community is the creativeness that it breeds and this week is no exception with a few brilliant and on-trend DIYs for your to try at home. If DIY-ing isn’t your thing but you still like to save your pennies there are posts for splurging or saving too.

Style, personalized.

 Edited By: Taylor Davies
The submissions for this week’s Links a la Mode were a total turn around from last week’s, but isn’t that always the way with blogging? One week you want to talk about the Prada exhibit at The Met, and the next you want to share your DIY for a fabulous studded collar. As bloggers we each try to own our niche and develop a personality, but the fun is in being able to expand; to shift gears and to evolve our content any way we choose. The 20 links below represent a myriad of personal points-of-view, from color obsessions to trend tips learning to love dressing for yourself and no one else.

We had a wonderful selection of posts this week that covered topics from racism in fashion, an HIV/AIDS benefit, to some racy accessories in the key of 50 Shades of Grey. Art At The Heart

For many of this week’s submissions, art was the center theme. From DIY projects to festivals, museum exhibits and dramatic runway sets – there are so many ways that art manifests itself in the world of fashion, not just in the clothes we wear. We create it, it moves us, it changes our mood and makes our world a more beautiful and magical place. I loved reading posts about the Costume Institute’s new exhibit, Chanel’s crystal runway set – and even how to make a glitzy pair of Mui Mui-inspired sunnies.

We have some showing us how to make old things new again, trends in different iterations and best of all, at a great price! Maybe I can go out a buy that new wardrobe after all…

The Eyes of March

Edited By Taylor Davies
Here we are, the first day of March – can you believe it? Spring will officially start this month, flowers will start to bloom (we hope!) and winter will finally start to let us out of it’s icy grip. This week’s Links a la Mode selections run the gamut from fashion week round ups to DIY projects and runway color inspirations.
A friendly reminder to all of you who graciously submit your posts for LALM: If your post is chosen for the round up, you must post the code from this post onto your own blog. The purpose of our round up is not only to share your links with our readership, but to share your fellow bloggers’ links with your readers as well. This allows each blogger to get 20 outbound links to their blog, and yours too! Many of the blogs we have been selecting lately have not been posting the code, so we are going to be policing this more carefully in the future. Thanks again everyone!

Springing Forward

Edited By Taylor Davies
I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve been ready for spring since about, mmm, December. I love cold weather, I love snow, I love bundling up – but I saw so many amazing trends and looks during September’s fashion week that I could hardly wait to wear. At least in New York, it seems like winter barely even arrived this year. Today for example, it’s about 60 degrees in Manhattan! Everywhere people are in their shirtsleeves and sunglasses, it feels and awful lot like spring is already here.
From the looks of this week’s Links a La Mode submissions, I’m not the only one with spring fashion fever. There were so many posts about trends and looks we’ll all be embracing – or are already! From printed pants to neon bags, ladylike dresses and the upcoming Marni for H&M collection – and of course some inspiring DIY projects – everything’s coming up floral! Check out this week’s inspiring and fashionable posts, and as always, thank you for the wonderful submissions!

Inspired and Desired; NYFW and Beyond

This has been a crazy week in New York City – New York Fashion Week brought out the fashionable masses, from shows to parties to the streets and of course the internet. Through social media and our favorite fashion outlets like Style.com and New York Magazine, we can keep up with collections almost instantaneously. This week’s Links a la Mode round up wasn’t done in the usual way – and we apologize for that! Our community site has been down for maintenance, and should be back up and running very soon. We’re making improvements to make IFB better than ever! Please enjoy this week’s submissions that came in via Twitter, using the hashtag #LALM. Thank you to all who participated – we appreciate your flexibility!
