Hair Do: Short & Curly

My hair is growing out so s-l-o-w-l-y that I compiled some short curly styles to keep me positive and from feeling overwhelmed by all the waist length, "tousled" locks swishing about out there. About six months ago I stopped flat-ironing my curly hair, for the first time in almost ten years. It had been dyed and damaged within a few inches of it's life, and I was finally tired of dealing with roots and puffiness and crying whenever it was foggy (always) and my hours with the hot tools being for naught ("don't breathe so heavily near me!").

These first two are very 1920's; I'm kind of leaning toward adding some layers while my hair is as short as it is, so it'll stack out in that unusual vintage shape. P.S. Did anyone see Little Ashes (where the first pic is from)?

 

I love these natural looking curls. I have to remember to put on styling creme while I'm still in the shower. Touching your hair as it's drying is the biggest no-no for curly heads, unless the Sonia Rykiel look is what you're aiming for.

 

Hopefully my hair will reach this length this year! I'm usually scared by Katie Holmes, but the  short choppy bangs with shiny curls looks really modern and not as doll-like as blunt bangs. I've been cutting my own hair for years but I haven't mastered the choppy bang yet! I might have to practice instead of letting them grow out and to the side... I have no patience...
