Tights on the Beach

I'm always so much happier when my friend Angelina is in California. Especially when she totes such a mind-blowing purse and adorable western hat. We took Oreo to the closest dog friendly beach on East Cliff to enjoy the nice weather. It's not quite warm enough for me, hence the tights, but there were a few girls out sunbathing. We said hi to the other doggies; well, we humans are more friendly than Oreo is with other dogs. Even though she's a gentle, weird little thing who's never fought another creature, she can seriously send out some vibes. Some bigger dogs wouldn't come within six feet of her! Grr.

I'm pretty stoked on these tights I ordered online, even though I'd been hoping for a deeper, browner shade, especially since the hue was called "paprika." Any suggestions on finding the perfect orange-y-reddish-brown tights under $20?? Also, stay tuned for the after pics tomorrow when I makeover these shoes (I already have a leopard pair). Happy Monday!

A glimpse of the Beach Boardwalk on my way to Eric's place. It's closed during winter, but you can only tell at this distance because there isn't any screaming.

California Poppies + Stripes

 Restyling ideas
• warmer: switch to a brightly colored sleeveless top & gold sandals
• cooler: add red tights, an orange belt & swap the wedges for boots

Yay the sun is shining! The color of the sunlight = my shoes/vest = poppies! I picked up this long vest at least a year ago and have had serious trubs styling it. Lately I've become enamored of vests again, so I was stoked to dig out the old yellow gem to spruce up a graphic black and white striped outfit. Threw on some sorta-striped wedges and some funny new glasses to greet the day. Had a lunch date with Eric, and my best friend returned to town that night. We went to Chili's for some celebratory catching up and queso. Orange and yellow seemed to be the color of the day! Also, I'm starting to notice more of the beauty around town. It's hard to not see at least one tree everywhere you look.

Beachy Keen

Though my weekend is not really Saturday & Sunday, I thought I'd share some photos from a little beach day I had on Wednesday. The boats from the nearby harbor race on Wednesdays, but I was too lazy to get up from my towel and walk closer to the shore for pictures.

The sun was warm and the sky boasted a ton of cloud types (Can anyone name some? I almost failed Meteorology). We decided this must be where the ocean likes to keep it's stump collection. I'm glad there were no nasty bros whistling, just some hilarious middle-schoolers figuring out their sexuality.

Follow Your Heart

Curtis reliford follow your heart action network

This is a photo I snapped of Curtis Reliford, of followyourheartactionnetwork.com, a locally based volunteer group he founded that has made 13 trips to bring donated clothing and food to Hurricane Katrina survivors in Louisiana. I was walking to work and saw him getting out of his now-familiar brightly spray-painted truck and stopped to say hi. I love the particular message he's pointing too, and asked if I could take a picture of him and his hopemobile.
His selfless acts of kindness and dedication are inspiring. He is such a dapper dresser, too!
