Winter's Sweet Side

This may be the most delightful January in Santa Cruz that I can remember. Lovely wintry weather, lovely new friends, new goals, a rising sense of hope. A year ago it rained so much we topped the previous year's annual rainfall in the first five weeks of the year! Luckily (though probably not for the environment) we've lately been basking in the sixties and seventies under blue skies during the day, though the evenings cool off quickly to remind you what time it really is. I took a stroll just before sunset, and I was a bit cold without a slip or sweater. Still, bare legs and sandals in January is undeniably a pleasure.

This field lies between my house and the ocean. Navigating the muddy parts and steep slope down to the beach wasn't on my agenda this time, but I plan on making time for more outdoor photography. I've been doing too much half-assed indoor outfit photos, and if it's boring me it's probably boring you, too! Today was a relaxing day off though, so I slapped on some makeup and wandered around outside for a bit. Believe me, I took a nice warm shower when I finally got back! Tonight for a dinner date I'll probably add a slip, tights and sweater for warmth, trade the hat for a chunky necklace, the sandals for heels, dab on a bit of light perfume and glide on some long-wear lipcolor!

  1. I really like the skirt. I don't think you understand how jealous I am of your weather right now.

  2. Despite the cold, I agree that outdoor photos are far superior to indoor! I adore that gingham skirt, and the hat is a nice touch.
