Not that there haven't been hookerish pop stars who bent all the rules before, but I really dig Lady Gaga. She's different somehow. It may be that she's very clear about what she does and why she does it. She doesn't try to dress it up, or downplay her sexuality. After a broken-heart and disillusionment took her down, she poured her all into what she loves: being loved.
And it seems like it's working.
